There is no single choice between the two: however, your budget and the needs will determine what is right for you.
Wall-to-wall carpets, a the luxury choice
This carpeting is superior when it comes to quality and design versatility. Having a seamless finish, this carpeting gives you a degree of freedom if you decide to go with your custom design.
Furthermore, wall-to-wall carpets can achieve an underfoot feel to carpet tiles because of the plethora of different carpet backing options and yarn types chosen with wall-to-wall carpets that simply aren’t available with pre-backed carpet tiles.
The downside of having this type of carpets is that it comes in the installation phase of wall-to-wall carpeting. If not properly planned out then it can be more costly and time-consuming than that of carpet tiles.
The good side is proper planning and training from your side and your carpet installer who can keep the waste of wall-to-wall carpets to a minimum extent.
Carpet tiles, the cost-effective choice
Carpet tiles are small swatches of carpet that can be installed and joined together in many different ways. Often it is referred to as modular carpet tiles that are often squared.
However, the manufacturers also provide them in a range of shapes which are a cost-effective solution, quicker, and easier to install.
Due to their modularity and small size, they also produce less waste during installation, but they are easier to restore when an individual tile is destroyed or stained.
Carpet tiles aren’t available without having any cons, though. Even when installation is executed perfectly, you will always be able to find the seams between tiles: however, if your goal is to achieve the look and feel of a single piece of carpet flooring then carpet tiles are probably not the right choice for you.
In addition, recent technological advancements have enabled carpet tiles to appear more seamless and designers have given more options in designing them. Although they don’t always fit the needs of more complicated or high-end projects, carpet tiles can often be an attractive option for a mid-range or less complicated design.
